Originally from North Carolina, I live in Rhode Island where lobster rolls are the new barbecue sandwich. I’m a graphic designer and photographer offering creative solutions for clients in health care, education, publishing, recreation, and legal services as well as individual artists and entrepreneurs. I received a degree in graphic design from North Carolina State University School of Design in 1989 with an emphasis on photography. I have taken continuing education courses in light painting photography, photographic lighting, framing, and printmaking at The Maryland Institute College of Art, The University of California at San Diego, San Diego State University, and The Rhode Island School of Design respectively.

I began my career in graphic design as a freelancer for a PBS TV/FM affiliate in Washington DC in 1990 where my foundation in computer graphics began. The next year, I joined a team providing print collateral and multimedia support for KPMG, an international consulting and accounting firm in DC servicing the Midatlantic region. Several years later, I moved to San Diego to enjoy the California scene. However, I spent most of that time designing websites for film, fitness, lifestyle, and entertainment at an internet marketing firm—a rewarding experience working with clients in the filmmaking industry. I designed custom boutique websites before WordPress-style sites became the norm. Printwise, I worked with local firms producing brochures and with publishers in the book trade. My photography work includes product, portrait, events, and editorial assignments. In 2000, I published a photodocumentary on pet-assisted therapy.

But after a time, the east coast would pull at me, and I moved to Southern New England and continued working for west coast clients. In addition to websites, I enjoyed returning to my roots in print creating brochures, annual reports, maps, and identity systems embarking on new opportunities with clients from Washington DC to Toronto as well as The Atlantis, Paradise Island Bahamas and The San Diego Zoo. Of all the press checks I’ve been to, I was honored to visit China to oversee a coffee table book that I designed for Atlantis documenting the rescue of the Katrina dolphins now residing at the resort.

I have also enjoyed many years of photographing informal family portraits, pets, events, small weddings, individual and group shots in work settings, interiors, and of course, food. I also offer editorial and creative writing for web and print.
